Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op 43
Composer: Jean Sibelius
Performers: 麻豆社 Philharmonic Orchestra
Conductor: John Storg氓rds
Recording date: 08 June 2013

Premiered in 1902, it was this symphony which consolidated Sibelius鈥 reputation in Finland and abroad. There is undoubtedly a struggle here, 鈥榓 confession of the soul鈥 as Sibelius would later describe it. The music is terse and fragmentary. It is only in the final movement that the earlier themes move toward a triumphant conclusion.
