Cheddar Reservoir will be shut to all visitors today.

Bristol Water have decided to close the lake during periods of hot weather due to a spike in anti-social behaviour.

It comes after numerous reports of people swimming in the water, consuming alcohol and littering near to the water.

In a statement they said they’d not made this decision lightly and done it to ‘protect lives’.

Â鶹Éç Radio Somerset’s Dan Ayers reports from the site and Steve Smith is the Head of Recreation at Bristol Water.

He gave his thoughts to Claire Carter on our Breakfast programme.
