Nigeria bans SARS stop and search operations

Nigeria: Controversial police unit SARS to halt stop and search operations with "immediate effect".

The Inspector-General of Nigeria Police, Muhammed Adamu, said the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, or SARS, must halt stop and search operations with immediate effect. In recent years there has been growing anger at routine harassment, extortion, and assaults committed by SARS officers.
