"How many lives can you have within a lifetime"
The play has been written as a monologue and is currently being staged at the Bridge Theatre in London. It聽 considers the plight, anger and pain of refugees and asylum seekers. The failures of the UK immigration system were highlighted recently, following the death聽in August of Mercy Baguma, an asylum seeker from Uganda. The one-man show entitled, 'Nine Lives' is about Ishmael, a gay Zimbabwean asylum seeker who is sent to the city of Leeds while he awaits the Home Office, the UK's ministry of interior, to decide his case. Focus on Africa's Esau Williams introduces the monologue.
