Singer-songwriter, producer and guitarist edbl has been blowing us away with his woozy beats and velvety vocals for the last 18 months. Consistently delivering slick production and captivating lyrics, the Chester-born, Brixton-based artist blends hip-hop, soul and R&B to create mellow soul food perfect for late night listening and lockdown leisure.

Despite his roots in indie, it wasn’t until edbl went to uni that he fell in love with R&B, discovering the sounds of Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo for the first time. After graduating from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 2013, the songwriter and producer made the move down south where he continued crafting beats whilst working as a session musician. Building on those sounds, he started the edbl project in 2018 and has spent the last couple of years collaborating with a range of artists, including Jarki Monno, Alfie Neale and Tilly Valentine. 2020 saw the release of 19-track instrumental tape ‘edbl beats vol.1’ and the ‘boys and girls’ mixtape, as well as the need to collaborate over Zoom to continue making music throughout lockdown.

edbl has quite rightly earned support from tastemakers across Â鶹Éç Music Introducing, Â鶹Éç Radio 1Xtra and Spotify, and with such an ambitious approach to music-making, this can only expand.
