Prices soar as the demand for garlic and ginger rises
As the number of Covid-19 infections approach 1.5 million and the number of Covid-19 related deaths edge closer to 45,000, an increasing number of South Africans have turned to self-help remedies to boost their immune systems.
Two ingredients that have seen a rise in demand are garlic and ginger and this has caused a huge increase in price.
However the World Health Organisation say that there is no evidence that eating garlic and ginger can protect people from contracting Covid-19.
