Blockchain is the basis for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, which offer a decentralised alternative to traditional banking and finance. However, the technology has uses beyond just currency creation. Ethiopia鈥檚 government is using blockchain to create a digital ID system, to help verify a person鈥檚 credentials.
