According to a new study by scientists at Oxford鈥檚 Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science, the Covid-19 pandemic saw life expectancy fall across most of Europe and the USA in 2020, on a scale not seen since World War Two and experts say further reductions may be seen in the next year or so, before life expectancy starts to recover.

Professor Manfred Green, a medical doctor and professor of epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Haifa in Israel, explains the significance of the fall. He goes on to say that mortality in Arabic populations has also seen a drop - "part of this whole issue of minorities being affected more". He goes on to respond to a question about vaccine passports and why these can pose problems by limiting the participation of people in countries of certain activities.
