South Africa's Rev Frank Chikane on defeating racism
South Africa's Reverend Frank Chikane, joined many delegates from Africa and the African diaspora for a virtual gathering to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the World Conference against racism, discrimination and related intolerances.
The former anti-apartheid activist and political detainee, was one of the conveners of the event, which sought to tackle global issues of racism, inequality and growing poverty. But he says racism cannot be defeated by debating about it, but by changing the conditions of the lives of people of African descent worldwide.
