'This disregard for the rules makes me very angry and depressed'

A man from Bristol who lost his father to cancer in 2020 has spoken about his anger at the findings of the Sue Gray report, into 16 events held at Downing Street during Covid restrictions.

Matt Anniss鈥 dad, was in the final stages of prostate cancer during the first lockdown.

Speaking to Rachel Burden on 5 Live Breakfast he said, 鈥渆very day I woke up thinking am I going to see him again?鈥

Matt was eventually able to see his dad, who lived more than 150 miles away, before he died, but only once lockdown rules were lifted in the summer.

He said, 鈥渢here are a lot of people out there who had it worse and my heart aches for all of those.鈥

Asked about the initial findings of the Gray report, Matt said, 鈥渋t鈥檚 not whether they were having cheese and wine, it鈥檚 the disregard of the rules that they set for us.鈥
