Ukraine's human rights ombudsperson on the war
It's day 32 of war in Ukraine - a month since the beginning of the Russian invasion. President Zelensky has said Ukraine has inflicted 'powerful blows' and 'significant losses' on the Russians, while the Russian army says the first phase of its military campaign in Ukraine is over. This month saw death and destruction in one Ukrainian city in particular, the port city of Mariupol in the east. That same scenario now seems to be replicated in the northern Ukrainian city of Chernihiv which is completely encircled by Russian forces. Lyudmilla Denisova, Ukraine's human rights ombudsperson has been speaking to Weekend's Julian Worricker who first asked about the situation in the besieged city of Mariupol.
