Kazuo Ishiguro on his new film 'Living'

The screenplay is written by Ishiguro and based on the famous Japanese film 'Ikiru'

Nobel Prize winning novelist, Kazuo Ishiguro, has written the screen play for a remake of Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece 1953 'Ikiru'. The film, called 'Living', moves the story to 1950s London and the stultifying existence of a civil servant played by Bill Nighy. It is directed by Oliver Hermanus and will hit cinemas on 4th November.

Today's Martha Kearney speaks to Kazuo Ishiguro about the inspiration for the film.
