Hollyoaks recently aired a special episode on women safety, specifically what it鈥檚 like to walk home alone as a woman.

It follows character Maxine Minniver, when she gets separated from her friends on a night out.

Nikki Sanderson who plays Maxine tells 5 Live鈥檚 Naga Munchetty, 鈥渦nfortunately I think everybody has been affected by this at some point in their lives鈥�.

She explains why she wants this episode to spark change.

The scriptwriter of the episode, Jayshree Patel, describes her inspiration behind pitching the story line.

鈥淥nce you鈥檝e got girls, your view of the world changes completely,鈥� she says.
