The Salisbury woman on the World War One frontline
Young journalist Dorothy Lawrence, who grew up in Salisbury, made it to the trenches in World War One by disguising herself as a man. Her story is told by Barbara Evans from the 'Her Salisbury Story' project and Alice Maddicott from Salisbury Museum to reporter Sophie Parker. It features in an exhibition at the museum between November 2022 and April 2023. Picture courtesy of Dorothy Lawrence.
