Paramedic's attacker convicted using body cam footage
A paramedic who was left with a fractured jaw after being assaulted while on duty has spoken exclusively to the 麻豆社 after body cam footage was used by police in the West Midlands for the first time to secure a prosecution.
54-year-old Steve Raven was called to reports of an unresponsive man on Friday 4th March 2022.
20-year-old Henry Steven Allun Grain from Worcester Road in Leominster was sentenced to two years imprisonment in a youth offenders institution after pleading guilty to Grievous Bodily Harm with intent and two counts of criminal damage.
In the year 2022 to 2023, 449 West Midlands Ambulance Service staff gave been physically assaulted and there have been 927 cases of verbal abuse.
In total, since around October 2021, 1288 body cameras have been given out.
