Lord Hennessy: A ‘common future’

The historian sets out his views for Britain’s future post-Covid

Today’s Amol Rajan speaks to the historian Lord Hennessy about the changing nature of British politics before and after Covid-19. His latest book ‘A Duty of Care’ argues the pandemic can provide Britain with a moment to forge a better future.

“There are so many crucial clocks ticking… we can’t waste another decade,” he argues. He reveals his concerns about Britain’s ageing population, the more “fragmented” nature of society, and the rise of scandals. But he also shares his optimism for what the future holds for Britain.
