Sudan's army facilitates evacuation of foreign nationals
The Sudanese army says the evacuation of some foreign nationals has begun, as fighting in the capital, Khartoum, continues into a second week. Several previous attempts by non-citizens to leave the country have failed because of the fierce battles around the international airport between rival military factions. But army chief Fattah al-Burhan has agreed to facilitate the secure departure of foreign nationals.
Abdou Dieng, who is in Khartoum, is the acting UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan. He says the situation in the city is "chaotic and worrisome."
