You'd be forgiven for thinking the theme of last night's Met Gala was cats - but the actual theme was 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty'.

The controversial German designer died in 2019, and worked at brands such as Chanel, Fendi, and his own eponymous brand.

Eye-catching outfits from the carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual ball included Doja Cat with cat-like prosthetics, Kim Kardashian wearing a dress made of pearls, and Jared Leto arriving in a full-body fur suit in the image of the late designer's cat, Choupette.
