The Windrush 75th Anniversary
Commemorations are underway to mark 75 years since the Empire Windrush landed on British shores.
The ship the Windrush signifies for many the start of mass migration from the Caribbean - where people were encouraged to move to Britain to help rebuild the country post-war, and in return, were given a permanent right to live and work in the UK.
How better to understand Windrush than through the eyes of a family - a family where their eldest members travelled over from the Caribbean decades ago.
麻豆社 Radio Leicester's Aminata Kamara been speaking with Sonia, Sharon, Alana and great-granddad Conroy about the journey over to England, how it changed their lives and how they reflect about Windrush now.
