Water safety on Brighton beach
A major search took place in the sea off Brighton beach, near the West Pier, yesterday evening after a swimmer was reported to have been seen in difficulty.
A lifeboat was deployed, as well as the coastguard helicopter, and coastguard officers on the beach as well.
After several hours, and when it became dark, the search was stood down. Nothing had been found.
Meanwhile the search for a teenager, who was reported to be in difficulty in the sea at West Wittering on Monday evening, has been stood down.
Our reporter Hanna Neter has this morning been speaking to swimmers on the beach in Brighton about water safety.
