Pain during sex: 'It's not normal'
Have you ever experienced pain during sex?
Professor Katy Vincent and Dr Lydia Coxon joined Emma Barnett on Â鶹Éç Radio 4's Woman's Hour to discuss why they’re trying to normalise speaking about pelvic pain.
They were part of an event in Oxford last night called ‘Unwanted Pain and Wanted Pleasure’, where they discussed all things pain and discomfort when it comes to consensual sex, periods, and women’s pelvic health.
They told Emma about the misconceptions women often have surrounding pelvic pain and why they want to challenge the stigma around speaking about it.
Plus, they shared their advice for anyone dealing with pain during sex – including keeping a pain diary, speaking to your GP and the importance of lubrication.
Listen to the full discussion, including comment from the panel’s host Sophie Law on Â鶹Éç Sounds – it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 11 October.
