Antisemitism reaching 'historic levels' around the world
The Israel-Gaza war is increasing anti-Jewish rhetoric.
Dr Alexandra Herzog of the American Jewish Committee tells Newsday that antisemitism has reached ''historic levels around the world.'' In the US, she says, ''We have seen a 388% increase of antisemitic incidents in the last month which is completely insane." The number of violent messages sent by white supremacist and right-wing groups mentioning Jews or Israel has also increased by "1000%" says Herzog.
Even before the Hamas attacks on 7 October and Israel鈥檚 bombing and ground operation into Gaza, Dr Herzog had received personal threats and insults. She says people 鈥渃ross the line鈥 by turning anger about Israeli policy and actions into antisemitic rhetoric and threats against Jewish people around the world.
