The EU's top diplomat Josep Borrell says the conflict is a wake up call for ending the cycle of violence in Israel-Gaza.

He tells Martha Kearney the Palestinian Authority should be supported and made stronger as part of efforts to look for a political solution to the conflict.

Mr Borrell is currently in Jerusalem and just before speaking to Martha had met the families of hostages seized by Hamas on 7 October.
