Is Venerable Bede a name you may be familiar with ? What did he do - Why are we speaking about him now?

Bede 1350 which runs until May next year, was launched by the Right Reverend Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham, at a civic service at St Paul鈥檚 Church in Jarrow.

Hundreds of people from across the North East are expected to come together over the next few months to mark the 1,350th anniversary of Bede's birth.
