Dawson gets first taste of Australia's Big Bash competition.
The 33 year old will play the first three matches in the 13th edition of the BBL. Dawson was signed as a replacement for England batter Harry Brook who has withdrawn.
"Its a competition I've watched for a number of years and I really wanted to play in it." said Dawson who will return home just before Christmas.
He will then fly out to South Africa on New Years day ahead of their T20 competition.
