Why London's last lamplighters want their lamps listed
Gas-powered street lamps first came to London - and the world - in 1807 on Pall Mall.
Since then of course, the number lamps and lamplighters has dwindled in line with the move to electric light. But according to Historic England, there's still about 1,300 working gas lamps in London, with about 270 of them in Westminster. About half have listed status.
Charlie Collins and his team look after these last lamps in London, and are on a mission to save as many as they can. He's been speaking to Robert Elms on 麻豆社 Radio London.
