'I was housebound from chronic migraine'

Megan Daniels has suffered with migraine since 2020.

The treatment of people with migraines is to be debated in the Commons for the first time since the 1960s, after Dehenna Davies, MP for Bishop Auckland, stood down due to suffering from chronic migraines.

Megan Daniels has suffered with migraines since 2020. She has to pay privately for treatment and her condition affects her every day choices, including getting pregnant.

Megan says it鈥檚 like 鈥渃onstant motion sickness鈥 and she was 鈥渃ompletely debilitated鈥 by her migraines: 鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 do anything, I was housebound. It鈥檚 horrific.鈥

She now takes medication, a treatment called Ajovy, which isn鈥檛 available on the NHS and has also made some lifestyle changes such as not drinking caffeine, doing more exercise and having a healthier diet.

She also has a device called 鈥榞ammaCore鈥 (a non-invasive vagus nerve stimulator), which stops her from needing to take painkillers: 鈥淭his has been crucial to my recovery,鈥 Megan says.

Megan has a blog on Instagram (@themigrainereset) where she documents her story in the hope of helping other migraine sufferers.
