On Sunday 21st April nearly 60,000 people will be pounding the streets of London for the annual London Marathon.

But it鈥檚 safe to say things looked a little different back on the 29th of March 1981, when the very first London Marathon took place.

Just 6000 people took part then. We鈥檝e had a dig into the 麻豆社 Archive to bring you the radio report from that day, when the join winners cross the line hand in hand.
