Martin Lewis: 'Do a meter reading before 1st April'
Martin Lewis has urged people who are having issues with their smart meter and pay their bills using direct debit, to take a reading before the energy price cap drops next Monday (1st April).
He explained how that if you don't do one, it's then up to the energy companies to decide your rate.
"I'm not saying that they will deliberately get that wrong but they will use an algorithm. They may make a decision that works in your benefit or they may make a decision that's not in your benefit".
But when's the perfect time to do it?
"Five to midnight on Sunday night", Martin said, but added that "sometime around a week of the change is optimum".
