The former Gogglebox star George Gilbey from Clacton-on-Sea has died at the age of 40. George, a self-employed electrician, died following a fall whilst working at height in Shoeburyness near Southend.

George starred in eight series of Gogglebox on Channel 4 between 2013 and 2018.

In a statement, Essex Police say "a man from the Witham area has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. This is a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive and our enquiries are ongoing".
