5 Live鈥檚 Rachel Burden takes on a brain health challenge
Radio 5 Live Breakfast presenter Rachel Burden is taking part in an experiment over the course of April to try to boost her memory and brain function.
After doing a series of interviews for 5 Live鈥檚 鈥楳e, My Health And I鈥 series about the impact the menopause can have on women鈥檚 brain function, Rachel met a team from Liverpool John Moores University to have some tests on her memory.
She鈥檚 been set brain exercises over the next month and will also try to boost her memory by switching to a Mediterranean-style diet of fish and vegetables, with less red meat and alcohol.
Dr Samantha Brooks, a reader of cognitive neuroscience in the school of psychology at Liverpool John Moores, told Rachel that the month-long challenge is the equivalent of going to the gym: 鈥淚f you go for a couple of weeks, you will feel good. But if you leave it, you will get flabby again.鈥
