Campbell Flynn 鈥 art historian and celebrity intellectual 鈥 is entering the empire of middle age. Fuelled by an appetite for admiration and the finer things, controversy and novelty, he doesn鈥檛 take people half as seriously as they take themselves. Which will prove the first of his huge mistakes.
'Caledonian Road' is the new state-of-the-nation novel from author Andrew O'Hagan that pulls down the facades of high society, and knocks over the 鈥済ood liberal鈥 house-of-cards.
But what does it tell us about London? And what did the author learn about the city as he wrote it?
