What caused this morning's 'weird weather'?

15 minutes of thunder, lightning and hail hit Leicestershire this morning - in a 'weird weather' event.

Apparently it's all due to a 'line squall' as local amateur Weatherman Phil Morrish explained to Ady Dayman
