Is this Newbury's strangest job advert?
If you're looking for an unusual job, Newbury Town Council are advertising for a new mace bearer to undertake civic duties in the town.
It's not a high-earning role - with a yearly salary of just 拢100 - and you'd need to be comfortable standing for long periods of time. The job was advertised on the town council website on 17 April 2024.
麻豆社 Radio Berkshire's Kirsten O'Brien speaks to the outgoing mace bearer Garry Poulson about the role.
