On St. George鈥檚 Day, April 23rd 1979, Conservative-run Ealing Council and the Labour government permitted a National Front pre-election rally at the town hall, in the heart of Southall.

In an act of resistance, the community peacefully sat down to stand up to racism. Ensuing police brutality ultimately led to the death of a protestor, Blair Peach.

Now, the 45th anniversary being remembered by a new drama about the people of Southall standing up to racism.

Playwright Satinder Chohan has been speaking to 麻豆社 Radio London's Robert Elms about why she thought it's so important to remember the event.
