Martin Lewis explains how a credit card balance transfer can help you clear your debt.

Speaking to 5 Live鈥檚 Nihal Arthanayake , he said: 鈥淚f you have debt on a credit card and you鈥檙e paying interest and you can鈥檛 afford to pay that credit card off in full, then you can鈥檛 afford not to check whether you can get a balance transfer on your credit card.

鈥淎 balance transfer is when you get a new credit card that pays off the debt on your existing credit card or cards for you, so you now owe a new credit card but at a cheaper rate, usually 0%.鈥�
