‘It felt like I was living two lives’
Growing up in London, The Telegraph’s Beauty Director Sonia Haria says she felt pressure to tone down her identity as a British-Punjabi girl.
Now she’s celebrating that culture through her new book, South Asian Beauty, which delves deeper into a range of beauty and wellness traditions.
Speaking on Â鶹Éç Radio 4's Woman's Hour, Sonia told Nuala McGovern that she wanted the book to be a space to celebrate South Asian traditions and rituals, but that she also felt it was important not to gloss over more difficult issues, including colourism.
You can listen to the full interview on Â鶹Éç Sounds – it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 5 August.
