Hillary Skoczylas, the Chair of Governors for the school in Welwyn Garden City, outlines the frustrations of the school, which has been pushing for replacements for the past 30 years. Plans to install double glazing have been recommended for refusal because the building is grade 2* listed. We have approached Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council but they have not responded.

A Historic England spokesperson said: "Templewood School is an innovative and influential example of a 20th century school building. The current proposal would result in the loss of the original windows which are part of the design and interest of this special Grade II* listed building. We have not objected to the proposal but have expressed some concerns, particularly as there are no detailed plans for the new windows. We advised that this information should be provided before the application is determined or, if consent is granted, detailed plans should be produced before works begin."
