Remembering the Stoke-on-Trent war hero John Baskeyfield
Andrew Felton visited the Battle of Arnhem 80th anniversary, to follow the story of a war hero. John Baskeyfield (also known as Jack) is the soldier commemorated at Festival Park. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem - fought during the closing months of World War Two. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery - single-handedly manning two anti-tank guns, despite being seriously injured and refusing to leave his post. Baskeyfield was a close friend to Andrew's grandparents and made the long trip to honour his life.
