Buying popcorn or a soft drink to accompany a trip to the cinema has been a long cherished tradition - but just how much is that bucket of popcorn setting you back?

The cost of buying refreshments at cinemas has risen steeply over the past few years - as the cost of licensing films, heating and lighting cinemas and making up for shrinking big screen audiences has been added onto the snacks section.
