'Pickled dragon' delights visitors to Oxford Museum
An Oxfordshire author, who fooled the media all over the world with a fake baby dragon in a jar, has loaned his extraordinary creation to the Story Museum in Oxford.
Allistair Mitchell published the hoax in 2004, to promote a fantasy novel he'd written about dragons.
He enlisted the help of a prop maker, who'd worked on the Walking With Dinosaurs TV series, to create the 1 foot tall, and remarkably lifelike, specimen.
The dragon is on display at The Story Museum in Oxford as part of their ‘Here Be Dragons’ exhibition.
