London filmmaker struggles to get funding - why?
Gurinder Chadha - the first British Asian woman to direct a feature film - says she struggles to get financial backing for her films because of the diversity represented in her casting and storylines.
Behind the 2002 hit Bend It Like Beckham, Gurinder's currently editing Christmas Karma, which is her reimagining of the Charles Dickens classic. The movie's set for a 2025 release and has an all-star cast including Londoner and Big Bang Theory actor Kunal Nayyar as Scrooge.
Gurinder revealed to 麻豆社 London's Asad Ahmad that even with her dizzying success and connections, getting a movie funded is always tough going.
