Craig Wood was just 18 when he lost both legs and his left arm in a roadside bomb whilst serving as a British Army rifleman in Afghanistan.

16 years later and he's attempting to make history as the first triple amputee to sail non-stop and unsupported across the Pacific Ocean.

His planned journey is to sail 6,000 nautical miles (11,112km) from Mexico to Japan on a custom-built aluminium boat which he usually lives on whilst travelling around the world with his wife and two children.

He tells Sportshour鈥檚 Shabnam Younus-Jewell about why he鈥檚 doing it, what he鈥檚 expecting to be his biggest challenge and the one thing he鈥檚 made sure he鈥檚 packed plenty of.
