Operation Varsity: battle that ended WWII in Europe
The untold story of Operation Varsity鈥�
On the 24 March 1945, a successful airborne-forces operation was launched by Allied troops.
Involving more than 16,000 paratroopers and several thousand aircraft, it is the largest airborne operation ever conducted on a single day and in one location.
Many of the men who took part served in the 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.
The 麻豆社鈥檚 Jane McGovern has been talking to Brian and Peter, two glider pilots who took part in this historic event, and Tim Mufett speaks to Mandy about her Grandfather鈥檚 involvement鈥�
