'Crewe factory girl' receives blue plaque
Ada Neild Chew earned the name "Crewe factory girl" for campaigning for women's rights. She wrote letters to the local paper highlighting the working conditions for her and other women in the town's factories. She's now been honoured with a coveted blue plaque on Bridle Road in Crewe, where her workplace used to be. Frank Nield, Ada's great, great nephew, attended the unveiling of the plaque. He says 'She was a very courageous, political figure.'
