'Care should not be a fight'
Jennifer Gallacher lives with a genetic muscle-wasting disease and needs one-on-one care 24 hours a day by both a team of carers and her parents.
But when she asked Middlesbrough Council if extra carer visits could be funded to give her parents a respite break, they told her she'd either have to pay out of pocket for this, or move into full-time residential care.
Aja Dodd went to meet her.
The 麻豆社 contacted Middlesbrough Borough Council but they have declined to comment.
