Helping people with intravenous lines swim
Kim Purkis from Romsey is one of the finalists in the Active category in 麻豆社 Radio Solent's Make a Difference Awards for 2025.
Kim Purkis from Romsey founded the charity called Face Everything and Rise to empower people on artificial nutrition and long term intravenous treatments.
She used her savings to buy special dry-suits which children can wear to keep their central line dry and safe from infection whilst swimming with their families.
Kim is one of the finalists in the Active category in 麻豆社 Radio Solent's Make a Difference Awards for 2025. 麻豆社 Radio Solent's Helen Head has been to meet her.
The Active Award is for people who use physical activity or sport to improve the lives of others in our community.
The Make a Difference Awards are your chance to say 鈥淭hank You鈥 and show recognition and appreciation for people who love to make life better for others.
Nominations for the 2025 awards have now closed and finalists have been selected by a panel of judges.
The winners will be announced at our 麻豆社 Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards ceremony in September.
