In the past three months, Longton has seen two big fires. Four disused buildings at the top of The Strand were destroyed in July. After that, Stoke-on-Trent City Council announced it was setting up an Empty Buildings Task Force to protect old and abandoned buildings from arson attacks and accidental fires. Following another fire on Market Street, Dr Allison Gardner Labour MP for Stoke-on-Trent South says she is really disappointed that this has happened again in Longton.
