Workhouse to NHS: Liverpool鈥檚 hidden link revealed
On the site of today鈥檚 Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral once stood Britain鈥檚 biggest workhouse. Harsh, unforgiving, and home to the city鈥檚 poorest, but it also became an unlikely stepping stone to the NHS. Historian Peter Higginbotham reveals how.
