Essex girls fear 'negative accent'
Research by the University of Essex has found teenage girls from Essex felt pressure to change the way they spoke, because of negative stereotypes around their accent.
The 2024 study analysed the feelings of 10 pupils from Westcliff High School for Girls, who've now recorded poems about their experiences, which can be heard on trains along the C2C line...
